Washington D.C.: In a significant shift in immigration and border control policy, the Trump administration has announced a comprehensive travel ban affecting a total of 19 countries, with 12 nations facing total entry restrictions and 7 others under partial limitations. The decision is part of what the U.S. government describes as “strengthened national security protocols.”

According to official sources, the total travel ban applies to countries that have been categorized as “high-risk” due to concerns ranging from terrorism, diplomatic tensions, to non-cooperation in identity verification and information sharing.
While the complete list of affected nations has not been disclosed in full, diplomatic insiders confirm that India is not included in either category.
The seven countries under partial restrictions will continue to have limited access, such as restrictions on specific visa types or entry for government officials and defense personnel only.
The move has drawn widespread criticism from human rights groups and international observers, who call it “discriminatory” and “a step backward for global cooperation.” The administration, however, maintains that the policy aims to “protect American citizens from known threats.”
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is expected to release more detailed guidelines and the official list of countries in the coming days.
