CBSE Cancels Class 12 Exam in West Asian Countries:
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled the Class 12 board examinations for students studying in several West Asian countries due to the ongoing regional crisis.

In its latest circular issued on March 15, the board confirmed that the examinations scheduled between March 16 and April 10, 2026 for CBSE-affiliated schools in multiple Gulf nations will no longer be conducted.
The decision affects schools located in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Previously Postponed Exams Also Cancelled
CBSE clarified that all Class 12 examinations that were earlier postponed will now stand cancelled as well.
In the circular, Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations at CBSE, stated that examinations postponed through previous notices issued on March 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 will also remain cancelled.
The board said that the method for declaring results for affected students will be announced later, once authorities finalise an alternative evaluation process.
Officials explained that the decision was taken after reviewing the feasibility of conducting examinations under the current conditions and considering feedback from schools and local authorities in the region.
Diplomatic Missions Informed
CBSE also confirmed that Indian diplomatic missions in the affected countries have been informed about the decision.
According to officials, Indian ambassadors in Gulf nations as well as the Consul General of India in Dubai have been notified to ensure proper communication with schools, students and parents.
This coordination is expected to help manage academic arrangements and address concerns of students affected by the cancellation.

Thousands of Students Likely to Be Impacted
The cancellation is expected to affect thousands of Indian students studying in CBSE-affiliated schools across the Gulf region, which is home to a large Indian expatriate community.
Major education hubs in the region include Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Riyadh, where many Indian curriculum schools operate.
The announcement also comes shortly after the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) cancelled the ICSE and ISC board examinations scheduled at centres in the United Arab Emirates.
Over 4.37 Million Students Registered for CBSE Exams
According to CBSE data, more than 4.37 million students have registered for board examinations this year.
Of these:
• Around 2.51 million students are appearing for Class 10 exams
• Approximately 1.86 million students are registered for Class 12 board exams
While the cancellation applies only to specific West Asian countries, CBSE has assured that it will soon announce an alternative method to evaluate and declare results for affected Class 12 candidates.
Students and schools are advised to wait for further official updates from the board regarding the evaluation process.
