India Beat Australia:
Australia captain Mitchell Marsh conceded that India were simply “world-class” after his team crumbled in a dramatic batting collapse to lose the fourth T20I by 48 runs at Carrara Oval on Thursday.

The defeat handed India an unassailable 2–1 lead in the five-match series, with one game remaining in Brisbane on Saturday.

India Dominate Despite Modest Total
India posted 167 for 8 on a two-paced surface with variable bounce — a total that initially seemed par for the course. But a disciplined and incisive bowling display from India turned the match on its head as Australia were bundled out for just 119 in 18.2 overs, losing their last nine wickets for a mere 52 runs.
Washington Sundar was the star with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 3 runs, while Axar Patel and Shivam Dube chipped in with two wickets apiece. All six Indian bowlers took at least one wicket in a clinical performance.
“Walking off, I thought 167 was about par,” Marsh said after the loss. “The wicket had its challenges, but we needed a couple of partnerships, and we just couldn’t build them. Fair play to India — they’re a world-class team, especially in these conditions.”
Australia’s Early Promise Turns to Collapse
Australia’s chase started brightly with Marsh and Matthew Short finding early boundaries, but once the spinners were introduced, India seized control.
Axar Patel trapped Short lbw attempting a sweep and later bowled Josh Inglis. Marsh, who top-scored with 35, was deceived by a slower delivery from Dube and holed out to backward square leg, triggering a collapse.
From there, wickets fell in quick succession. Tim David miscued a pull, Josh Philippe was caught off Arshdeep Singh, and Glenn Maxwell, the hero of the previous match, was bowled by a sharp googly from Varun Chakaravarthy.
Sundar then cleaned up the tail, dismissing Marcus Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett, before Jasprit Bumrah removed Ben Dwarshuis for his 99th T20I wicket. Sundar fittingly ended proceedings by having Adam Zampa caught at long-on.

Marsh Defends Rotation Policy
Reflecting on the team’s composition, Marsh acknowledged the challenges of balancing rest and match preparation ahead of a busy international calendar.
“In an ideal world, you’d have your full-strength side every game,” he said. “But some guys have big series coming up. Giving others exposure to high-pressure matches like this is important leading into the World Cup.”
India Eye Series Win in Brisbane
With the win, India sealed the series and will now look to finish strongly in Brisbane, while Australia aim to salvage pride.
For India, the victory showcased their depth, adaptability, and composure — hallmarks of a side that continues to dominate the shortest format.
