Minister for Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD), Sudhangshu Das, emphasized key priorities for livestock and animal husbandry advancement during a high-level virtual meeting held on Monday at the Secretariat Conference Hall. The meeting was attended by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Minister of State S.P. Singh Baghel, and senior departmental officials.

The session was convened to deliberate on strategic initiatives for strengthening the Animal Resources sector, a vital contributor to rural livelihoods and food security in India.

Focus on Infrastructure and Productivity
Highlighting the challenges faced by livestock owners and farmers, Minister Sudhangshu Das underlined the urgent need for infrastructure enhancement and productivity improvement in the sector. He stressed that modernizing facilities and adopting innovative animal husbandry practices would not only raise productivity but also ensure farmers receive timely support.
“The Animal Resource Development sector has a direct role in empowering farmers and securing rural development. We must bring in reforms that help our farmers thrive,” Minister Das noted during the discussion.
Call for Collaborative Centre–State Action
Minister Das also highlighted the significance of Centre–State collaboration in unlocking the sector’s potential. He urged that both levels of government must work together to create robust support mechanisms for livestock farmers, including:
1.Timely financial assistance and credit access
2.Capacity-building programs for farmers
3.Policy reforms to streamline resources and schemes
The presence of Union Ministers and senior ARDD officials lent weight to the deliberations, underscoring a shared commitment to accelerate growth through coordinated planning.
