The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has officially invited nominations for the National Youth Award (NYA) 2024, with the deadline for submission now extended to September 30, 2025.

The award is aimed at recognizing young individuals aged 15 to 29 years and youth-led organisations that have made remarkable contributions in areas of national development and social service. According to the ministry, the recognition is designed to inspire youth to become responsible citizens and to encourage participation in meaningful community service.
What is the National Youth Award?
The National Youth Award is one of India’s most prestigious recognitions for young achievers. It is usually conferred during the National Youth Festival every year.
Categories & Number of Awards
The award is presented in two categories:
1. Individual Category – Maximum 20 awards annually.
2. Organisational Category – Maximum 5 awards annually.
However, the number of awards may vary based on the discretion of the sanctioning authority.
Award Benefits
Individuals: A medal, certificate, and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000.
Organisations: A medal, certificate, and a cash prize of ₹3,00,000.

Fields of Work Eligible for NYA 2024
Young individuals and organisations engaged in health, research & innovation, culture, human rights, art & literature, tourism, traditional medicine, active citizenship, sports, academic excellence, community service, and smart learning are encouraged to apply.

The nominations will only be accepted online through the official portal of the ministry. The final date for submission has been extended to September 30, 2025.
