Boosting Education Through CSR

CIL, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, has sanctioned ₹10 crore to implement the project through NSTFDC in a time-bound manner. This collaboration aims to supplement government efforts in bridging educational and digital divides in tribal communities.

Currently, 479 EMRS operate across India, providing quality education, nutrition, and healthcare to Scheduled Tribe (ST) children. The new support will help these schools deliver better technology access and holistic learning.

Key Provisions of the MoU

As part of the initiative, the following resources and facilities will be introduced in 76 EMRS:

1.1,200 computers & 1,200 UPS units to establish digital labs.

2.110 tablets for student learning and engagement.

3.420 sanitary pad vending machines & 420 incinerators to promote menstrual hygiene.

4.Career counselling & mentorship for over 6,200 students in Classes 10 and 12.

This move directly aligns with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs’ flagship intervention to empower tribal youth through modern education and skill-building.

Leaders Speak

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Jual Oram expressed confidence that more companies will extend CSR support for tribal development. He emphasized that initiatives like these are vital for creating equal opportunities for tribal students.

Shri G. Kishan Reddy highlighted that Coal India’s CSR focus areas—education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, livelihood promotion, and rural development—will see greater impact through this partnership.
