After completion of the training, the trained CRPs and SHG members will undertake door-to-door surveys in the market to identify street vendors, assess beneficiaries left out of government schemes, and ensure their linkage with PM SVANidhi, PMFME, and other welfare programmes, strengthening last-mile delivery.

PMFME Scheme: Boosting Micro Food Enterprises

During the programme, participants were sensitized about the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, a centrally sponsored initiative launched in June 2020 to support and formalize micro food processing units under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan and Vocal for Local vision.

The PMFME scheme provides:

  • 35% credit-linked capital subsidy up to ₹10 lakh per unit
  • Seed capital support of ₹40,000 per SHG member
  • Support for branding, marketing, and common infrastructure
  • Focus on the One District One Product (ODOP) approach

As of June 2025, the Centre has released ₹3,791.1 crore to States and UTs under the scheme, while 1.44 lakh loans worth ₹11,501.79 crore have been sanctioned nationwide. Over 1.16 lakh beneficiaries have already been trained under PMFME, strengthening entrepreneurship and rural livelihoods.

Linking Street Vendors to Livelihood Schemes

Officials highlighted that linking street vendors and SHG members to PMFME can help them:

  • Upgrade small food businesses
  • Access institutional credit
  • Improve packaging, branding, and market access
  • Enter the formal economy

The training programme emphasized convergence between PM SVANidhi, which provides working capital loans to street vendors, and PMFME, which supports food processing enterprises, ensuring sustainable income generation.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, and welfare coverage across urban and rural areas of Tripura.
